Fergus is more than an ordinary teacher. While preparing for my CELTA, I spent a lot of time scouring the web for online resources and English language training materials. I was was fortunate to stumble on the English Language training videos presented by Fergus. He immediately came across as a person who is passionate about English as a language, teaching and a wish for you to be successful. I found his style engaging, informative and the materials at the right level for what I was looking for. While I was already well versed in English as a second language, I still felt I needed extra help and so just before starting the course, I asked if he would be willing to provide some additional help and guidance during the course. After a short introductory call together, he agreed to help. I can say without hesitation that without his feedback and encouragement I might very well have given up in week one of the five week online course. Fergus’s encouragement, jest and excitement for teaching help to tip the balance. Throughout the course, he acted as professional tutor, giving constructive feedback and honest advice. While many might be willing to take all advice at face value, I find that a key part of learning is also to be able to challenge feedback and to adapt accordingly. Fergus also seemed to really appreciate this way of working which made our review sessions all the more interesting. Due to a six hour time difference, Fergus was very flexible and agreed meeting times worked well with the course planning. I am happy to say that I was successful in passing the course, and can say without hesitation that this was in no small part to the help and advice that Fergus. I have no hesitation in recommending Fergus to anyone who is interested in furthering their wish to gain a deeper understanding of English.
